More Than Pleasure You
(A More Than Words Novella)
by Shayla Black
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shayla Black comes a new story in her More Than Words series…
Can I convince her our hot but temporary engagement should last forever?
I’m Stephen Lund, confirmed bachelor…and son of a successful billionaire whose sins I can’t forget—or forgive. Though he insisted I get over his transgressions, I can’t. So I put space between us with a temporary getaway to Maui. My rental’s sexy caretaker, Skye Ingram, is a beautiful distraction. Yeah, it’s a terrible time to start a fling, but I can’t help wanting to give her every bit of pleasure she’s willing to take.
When Skye needs a date to her ex-boyfriend’s wedding, I’m game to play her pretend fiancé. The jerk should see what he passed up…and that I’m holding her now. But our pretend engagement begins to feel real. Our passion certainly is. So are the consequences. When I’m confronted with the reality that our lives are now irrevocably entwined, I have to choose between leaving Skye to return to the life—and wealth—I’ve always known or abandoning everything familiar to start over with the woman who awakened my heart.

Oh, how I adored Skye and Stephen. How did you choose them for this story?
When Stephen first walked onto the page in More Than Crave You and took such an interest in getting to know his half-sister, even while their father didn’t, I knew there was some juicy family drama and secrets there. I also knew Stephen was single, and well…I had to fix that. LOL! What my Wall Street bigwig with all his ambitions and baggage needed was both a vacation in paradise and a fling with a woman who was his opposite. Enter boho chic Skye, who has some pretty interesting problems of her own, like an ex-boyfriend getting married and his meddling mother who’s determined their romance isn’t over. A fake engagement later, I knew there was no way Stephen and Skye could leave this story unattached.
I also loved that it was set in Hawaii. Is there a place you haven’t written in yet that you would love to one day?
Tons! Paris is high on my list—both to visit and set a book in.
Ok, if you had to do Skye’s makeup for the day of her ex’s wedding, what kind of look would you give her?
Oh, you know I love to talk makeup, and getting my hands (and brushes) on Skye’s skin would be so fun! She has such a warm golden tone to her skin (so jealous!), so I’d draw attention to her eyes with shimmering browns, rose gold, and pearl. The rest of her face I’d accent with a champagne highlight, a soft rosy blush, and a nude lip. It would be stunning on her!
I love the playlist at the beginning of the book. Do you get inspirations from songs or do the songs come to you as you’re writing certain scenes?
Both. I stream music while I’m writing so sometimes I hear a song and think it’s perfect for the mood of the book, like Embraced by Paul Cardell. Sometimes, a scene comes to me with a song already in mind, as was the case with Bruno Mars’ Marry You. My brain just works musically, so there are always tunes associated with books for me. Since I love sharing these associations with readers, I have a playlist in every More Than Words book. All the songs listed are important to me and to that particular story.
Can you give us a hint as to what you’re working on now?
It’s a secret…but I’ll be announcing it before the end of the year. If readers want the scoop, I’d love to have them subscribe to my VIP newsletter (from my website) or join my interactive Book Beauties group on Facebook. Those folks will be the very first to know!
