Jonah Bennett

(A Bennett Mafia Novella)

by Tijan

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tijan comes a new story in her Bennett Mafia universe…

Jonah Bennett wasn’t like his family. The mafia business was firmly what his brothers did, not him.

That changed the day a rival family killed his fiancée.

An Exclusive Interview With Tijan:

~ with Jillian Stein of Read Love Blog

OMG I absolutely loved Jonah and Carson’s story. How did you choose them for this novella?

Hi! I knew Jonah wanted a novella and he’s been talking to me more than Tanner or anyone else so I felt like it was time for me to write his story.

I also love both of their names. How do you come up with your character names and how do you choose if they fit the character?

I must’ve had Carson’s name in my mind because after I wrote Jonah’s novella, I realized that I had another Carson in another WIP but Jonah’s Carson wanted her story and her name used first. Other than that, I just go with what name feels right to me and this one felt right for her.

You write in a few different worlds, like sports and the mafia, as well as in a few different genres, like contemporary and paranormal. Do you ever find it challenging to switch gears when it’s time to write a book that differs from the last thing you wrote?

Kinda, but sometimes I’m thirsting for a switch in genres. I’ve been writing a lot of mafia lately and I cannot wait to get back to some good college drama. Lol! Other than that, switching to paranormal has its own challenges for me too but I think I’ll work through it when I get more of those new series coming out!

What is one thing you can tell us about yourself that may not be well-known?

I’m a vegetarian. It’s not something super known, but I’ve been starting to share that more lately. After I had covid, it was a recent progression for me towards what I’d already slowly been growing towards, but I became way more health conscious after covid. I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year, but I still feel like I’m learning new things every day.

Can you give us a few lines from your work-in-progress?

This is one of my two WIPs. I can’t share anything from my mafia one, but here’s my MC one!

When two bikers start trading punches in the middle of the soup aisle, and your first thought is why couldn’t they have picked the bakery section, the universe is telling you something.

What was it telling me? That my life was sad, but newsflash, universe. I already knew that. Knew that since I came out of my mom’s vagina in the back alley of Grumps and Hoes. It was their witty name for a hardware store.
