Control
(An Everyday Heroes Novella)
by K. Bromberg
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new story in her Everyday Heroes series…
Control is something Desi Whitman abhors. Why live life in black and white perfection when you can messily color outside the lines?
But when she comes face to face with SWAT officer Reznor Mayne, he’s about to show her just how good control can feel.

I loved this story so much! Desi and Reznor were delish together. How did you choose them for this novella?
Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. In the other books in this world, readers really loved Desi and her spitfire, take-no-prisoners attitude. I loved writing her as well . . . so to bring her story to life was an easy decision for me.
I also loved their character names, especially Reznor. How do you come up with your names?
I’m kind of picky about character names. When I first started writing, of course Ana and Christian were huge. A reader never had to say their last name or what book they were from and everyone knew who you were talking about. So with my first book, I set out to try and give characters names so that when someone said it, you’d know what book it came from. It was a naïve view at the time . . . and one that I know is impossible with there being so many books on the market, but the notion of using unique names so my characters don’t blend into the fray stuck with me.
For Reznor, I was skimming through something online and I saw an article on Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and for some reason his last name struck me. I liked it. I saw it as a name that was unique but a hero could wear . . . so I used it.
If you could dream cast Desi and Reznor to be played in a movie, who would you choose?
I always cringe at this question because I think each reader has their own vision of the character. Can I say Chris Hemsworth? I mean, I don’t care what role he plays, I’d watch it. J And for Desi . . . I could see like an Emma Stone or a Drew Barrymore type play her.
A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?
Um… talk about random question. Lol.
He says, “Who is a penguin’s favorite relative?” I look at him stumped. He continues, “Aunt Arctica.” Sorry . . . penguin humor.
Can you give us a hint as to what you’re working on now?
Right now, I am working on the second in a two book series that will be released by Montlake next year (still untitled). The two books follow the same characters (Vaughn (h) and Ryker (H)) and is their story. The first book was really fun to write so I can’t wait to see where book two takes them. Plus, I love writing more than one book for a couple because I feel like readers get to fall in love with them more since I have the chance to flesh the characters out.
Biography:
New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines, and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.
She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California.
On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, and Down Shift), and a novella (UnRaveled).
