Ride Dirty

(A Raven Riders Novella)

by Laura Kaye

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Kaye comes a new story in her Raven Riders series…

Caine McKannon is all about rules. As the Raven Riders Sergeant-at-Arms, he prizes loyalty to his brothers and protection of his club. As a man, he takes pleasure wherever he can get it but allows no one close—because distance is the only way to ensure people can’t hurt you. And he’s had enough pain for a lifetime.

But then he rescues a beautiful woman from an attack.

Kids and school are kindergarten teacher Emma Kerry’s whole life, so she’s stunned to realize she has an enemy—and even more surprised to find a protector in the intimidating man who saved her. Tall, dark, and tattooed, Caine is unlike any man Emma’s ever known, and she’s as uncertain of him as she is attracted. As the danger escalates, Caine is in her house more and more – until one night of passion lands him in her bed.

But breaking the rules comes at a price, forcing Caine to fight dirty to earn a chance at love.

An Exclusive Interview With Laura Kaye:

~ with Jillian Stein of Read Love Blog

Oh, how I loved Caine and Emma! How did you choose them for this story?

Actually, I didn’t choose them, readers did! 😀 Last fall after the release of Ride Wild (Raven Riders #3, Slider and Cora), I had a contest to let readers choose the hero of the final official book in the series – and Caine McKannon won by a landslide! All I knew at that time was that his heroine was someone who to all appearances seemed his exact opposite, and kindergarten teacher Emma Kerry fit that bill perfectly! But the real joy was peeling back the layers to see all the ways that they complemented one another. This was a book that really surprised me in a lot of ways!

I love that you write in a few different genres and I enjoy reading all of them. Is it refreshing or challenging to switch in between them?

I love it! I feel like they each appeal to and draw from different parts of my brain, so it’s a joy to change gears and switch between them! That’s true both about different series within romance, but also for writing both romance and historical fiction – I love getting to tell all kinds of different stories.

If you could dream cast Caine and Emma for a movie, who would you chose?

I think Amber Heard (when she has blonde hair!) would make a great Emma – she has the perfect mix of sweet and brave. And Mexican actor Eduardo Verastegui would be an AMAZING Caine, especially when you see him in his grittier/scruffier pictures! LOL!

What would you choose as a themes song for this book?

Easy! Pink’s Fuckin’ Perfect, although I wrote Ride Dirty to Papa Roach’s War over Me, with lyrics like:

I’m standing on the front lines, I’m fighting for my soul
I’ve walked the self-destructive lonely road
I read the warning signs but I was to blind to see
I have to feel the pain till I believed
I have a purpose

Can you give us a hint as to what you’re working on now?

Now I’m gearing up to promote my upcoming historical novel, My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, as well as the first book in a new military romance series: Fight for Everything (Warrior Fight Club #1). I start writing the second book in that series in the coming weeks! So many fun things going on!
