Need You Now

by Lisa Renee Jones

Life is hard. Life leaves you beaten, broken…alone. Then one day, a stranger touches your hand and you feel something intense, unforgettable, but yet, you want to forget. You need to forget. It’s safer than believing in things you’ve decided don’t exist. You know all about shattered promises and lost hope. You know them so much better than you know this excited, warm, wonderful feeling, and it scares you. He scares you, but he also makes you feel alive again. He makes you realize you haven’t really been living. You’re surviving and you fear he’s the one who’ll make you forget how to keep doing it. But what if he’s the one who changes everything?

An Exclusive Interview With Lisa Renee Jones:

~ with Jillian Stein of Read Love Blog

Need You Now is a sexy and intriguing story that had me pulled in from the very first page.  What made you choose Danny and Jensen for your 1,001 Dark Nights novella?

I’ve always had a soft spot for wounded characters, which they both are, and trust isn’t something easily given between these two. I think that makes it more special when it is found.

Need You Now also kicks off a new series for you.  How exciting is it to have a new world to write in?

I get very attached to characters and it’s not easy for me to touch them and not continue to live with them. So attachment came fast and that meant I wanted to keep writing them.

Speaking of series, you have a TV show based of of one of your series, the Inside Out Series.  What has been the biggest challenge in turning a book series into TV?

It comes in stages. The right scripts are critical and thankfully we do have 10 episodes written now. But finding the right writer to master those episodes was one of the most critical steps.

Before writing you were in the business world and owned a multi-state staffing agency…do you ever miss that?

Never. I do value all I learned during those years and I put that to use in writing but it was 80 hours weeks and lots of stress.

What books to you have on your to-read list right now?

The list is long. I’m in such a deadline cycle I haven’t been able to reed much. I’m really looking forward to Karen Marie Moning’s next FEVER book though and nothing will keep me from that.

You are tremendously active on social media and your blog and are wonderful at posting all different types of things, not just about your books.  What is your secret to balancing that along with your writing?

I have amazing help with Emily and Rae who both work with me on social media and the blog. But I pretty much write around the clock 7 days a week so when I am thinking about a scene or just finished one I do social media.

What do you think you would be doing right now if you hadn’t started writing?

Still in staffing and miserable. I was offered a deal to stay in that was lucrative but I walked away much to the distress of those around me who thought I was crazy.  It was a lot of money I walked away from in the deal to sell my business.

The holiday season is fast approaching, what are some of your favorite gifts to give?

I think it’s important to take time to give something you really know is special to that person, not generic, and we always try to do that.

Are you a writer who writes strictly on a computer or have you ever switched on and off to pen and paper?

Macbook in my lap all the time and sometimes even when I fall asleep.

In five words or less, describe Need You Now:

A story of trust and passion.
