Adoring Ink

(A Montgomery Ink Novella)

by Carrie Ann Ryan

The Montgomery Ink series continues with the most unlikely of romances between the one that got away and the man who can show her the world.

Holly Rose fell in love with a Montgomery, but left him when he couldn’t love her back. She might have been the one to break the ties and ensure her ex’s happy ending, but now Holly’s afraid she’s missed out on more than a chance at forever. Though she’s always been the dependable good girl, she’s ready to take a leap of faith and embark on the journey of a lifetime.

Brody Deacon loves ink, women, fast cars, and living life like there’s no tomorrow. The thing is, he doesn’t know if he has a tomorrow at all. When he sees Holly, he’s not only intrigued, he also hears the warnings of danger in his head. She’s too sweet, too innocent, and way too special for him. But when Holly asks him to help her grab the bull by the horns, he can’t help but go all in.

As they explore Holly’s bucket list and their own desires, Brody will have to make sure he doesn’t fall too hard and too fast. Sometimes, people think happily ever afters don’t happen for everyone, and Brody will have to face his demons and tell Holly the truth of what it means to truly live life to the fullest…even when they’re both running out of time.

An Exclusive Interview With Carrie Ann Ryan:

~ with Jillian Stein of Read Love Blog

I loved this story! Holly and Brody are just sublime together. How did you choose them for this novella?

I’m so glad you enjoyed Holly and Brody’s story! They were so much fun to write because it was like nothing I’ve ever done before. It was wonderful writing characters who are actually truly happy with themselves but waiting to take the next step in their lives. They of course have angst, because, hello, I’m Carrie Ann and I have an angst love, but it’s not because they hate themselves.

I chose Holly and Brody because they were two characters my readers loved but would never have put together. Holly is Jake’s ex-girlfriend from INK EXPOSED. While many romances I read have evil exes or women who just can’t seem to get over that one man that they never should have loved, I fell in love with Holly. She was sweet. Yep. Sweet. And totally didn’t fit into my Montgomery Ink world and that’s why I wanted to put her there. She might not have ended up with a Gallagher or a Montgomery, but she got her HEA. And I truly believe that most exes in romances need those HEAs. Maybe they wouldn’t be so mean if they actually found the one person they love!

Brody was a side character that was supposed to have like one line in my other 1001 Dark Nights novella, HIDDEN INK. Oh boy was I wrong about him. Readers begged for this swoony character’s story so I knew I somehow had to see who he was. I met him a bit more in INK EXPOSED and fell in love with him all over again.

So of course the swoony so-called-play boy needed to end up with the sweet-never-been-inked ex-girlfriend.

I love the whole Montgomery Ink series and love the tattoo aspect. Are you thinking of any new tattoos for yourself soon?

I LOVE ink. As Jillian knows, I have a few tattoos myself and even got two of them with her! As for more ink? Hmm…I have ideas for seven more (eek!) but I need to find the time and the artist to do them justice. *hint hint* Oh Jillian, I need you! LOL If only the Montgomery Ink crew were a real tattooing dream!

Who would you cast as Holly and Brody in an Adoring Ink movie?

Ack! I’m always so bad at this. Hmmm…for Holly I would say a blonde Felicity Jones. You know her from Rogue One and I adore her and her strength in movies. For Brody? Probably Aaron Taylor-Johnson in his bearded glory. He played Quicksilver in the Age of Ultron movie and just won a Golden Globe for his work as well.

What is one of your favorite moments since joining 1,001 Dark Nights?

I’m such a fangirl, so all of my favorite moments include other authors. I love this group of talented women—and Chris! One of my favorite moments was probably sitting next to Kristen Ashley at RT16 and talking about 1001 Dark Nights and how many yummy books I get to read that I wouldn’t have before. She was so sweet and amazing and it wasn’t until a couple months later that I found out she was going to write Daisy’s story with 1001. I screamed. Ask Liz! LOL

Can you give us a hint as to what you’re working on next?

You know my schedule so you know I’m always working on ten books or so. But up next in the Montgomery Ink world is Storm and Everly’s story, INKED EXPRESSIONS. I start that one next month once I finish up a surprise project that includes one of Brody’s friends. *cough*. Oh boy, these books are taking the angst and heat up a notch and I’m loving it.

Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.

Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.
